Dog Gets Protection From Wichita Judge A Sedgwick County judge yesterday issued a protection from abuse order that bars a man from having any contact with a miniature dachshund he is accused of attacking with an ax. The order prevents Jeffery Kwist, 48, from having contact with "a dog named Weenie." Kwist's bond was set at $10,000 He faces a single count of cruelty to animals. Wichita police said Weenie was attacked Saturday afternoon in the 1500 block of South Hydraulic. Police said the dog was treated at an emergency veterinary clinic and is recovering at home. From Wichita Judge

contact with a miniature dachshund

The order prevents Jeffery Kwist,

Kwist's bond was set at

Support Pours in for Fired Wichita Walmart Worker
By Carrie Rengers The Wichita Eagle What a difference a day makes. Monday, Heather Ravenstein filed for unemployment after losing her job as a customer service manager at the Walmart on West Kellogg. She was fired because she violated company policy by confronting a shoplifter. Tuesday, the single mother received an outpouring of support as more people learned of her situation. "My phone's been going off the hook," Ravenstein says. So far, there are two Wichita businesses interested in interviewing her for possible jobs. (And) Ravenstein's landlord has given her one month's free rent. Some people are offering money, including one politician (who prefers to remain anonymous) who would like to buy her a grocery card and a gas card — (but) not from Walmart or Sam's Club .
