issued a protection from abuse order
that bars a man from having any

he is accused of attacking with an ax.

with "a dog named Weenie."

Kwist's bond was set at
$10,000 He faces a single
count of cruelty to animals.

Wichita police said Weenie

afternoon in the 1500 block
of South Hydraulic.

    CORRECTION | Print |

There were two minor inaccuracies in the below story concerning Hutchinson Attorney David Holmes and an incident at Carl's Bar, a downtown Hutchinson restaurant.

**Holmes was not at the restaurant when the owner called for police. He had already left and police instead went to Holmes' office, where they advised him of criminal trespass if ever returned to Carl's Bar.

**Holmes allegedly scraped the condiments on his bun off onto the table before reportedly smearing them around on the table.

The errors have been fixed in the story.

Wow, the second one is the best correction I've ever read before.

-- a good reporter would have KNOWN the guy had lst removed the condiments from his bun BEFORE he smeared them on the table....as compared, I guess, to taking one hand and holding the condiments in place while with the other hand flipping the bun over and then putting it down on the table and starting a smearing action.

Remember folks. This is the fellow who the Republicans once elected to the County Commission. Of course, if I remember correctly, he hardly ever showed up.

A good reporter would know if it was "wax on" or "wax off" in the smearing technique.

A good reporter would have investigated whether it was a plain hamburger bun or a sesame seed bun AND if of the sesame seed variety, whether any such seeds were found on the suspect's hands or imbedded in the threads of his office carpeting. The public has a right to know.

You do realize Holmes will probably sue you, don't you? And Carl's Bar. And the police. And probably even the table he was sitting at and allegedly offending.

Us media critics have hopefully made you see the sin of sloppy reporting -- or -- maybe its reporting about sloppy tables or table manners
